They all work the same way â enter a value in one unit and the rest convert at once, so you do not need to know in advance which direction you want. The conversion runs in your browser, with nothing sent to a server.

Temperature is the one that does not behave like the others: Celsius and Fahrenheit have no shared zero, so they convert by a shift as well as a multiplication. That is why a difference of 10 °C is not the same as 10 °F, even though 10 kilometres and its conversion to miles behave exactly that way.
