How temperature conversion works
Unlike other quantities, temperature cannot be converted by simple multiplication – the scales have shifted zero points. The converter calculates through degrees Celsius: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15.
Practical reference points: water freezes at 0 °C (32 °F) and boils at 100 °C (212 °F). Body temperature of 37 °C corresponds to 98.6 °F. Absolute zero, the lowest possible temperature, is 0 K = −273.15 °C.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply the value by 9/5 (i.e. 1.8) and add 32. For example, 20 °C = 20 × 1.8 + 32 = 68 °F. The other way: subtract 32 from °F and divide by 1.8.
What is Kelvin and when is it used?
Kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature, used in science and engineering. It has no negative values – 0 K is absolute zero (−273.15 °C). The conversion is simple: K = °C + 273.15.
