Two families of calculators, each in a version for eight European countries. Contributions, tax bands and sick pay rules differ in every one of them, so a shared calculation would always be wrong somewhere â instead each country has its own calculator with its own rates.
The take-home pay calculator starts from gross pay and works out employee contributions, income tax, any allowances and the amount that reaches your account. It also shows the employer cost, meaning what the same job costs the business once its own contributions are counted â a figure usually far higher than people expect.
The sick pay calculator works out what you receive while unable to work. In most of these countries the employer pays first and a state insurer takes over after a set period, so the percentages and the daily basis change partway through. The UK is the exception: Statutory Sick Pay comes from the employer throughout, at a flat weekly cap.
