How Slovenian wage compensation is calculated in 2026
The first 30 working days of sick leave are paid by the employer: 80% of the daily wage for illness, 70% for an injury outside work, and 100% for a workplace injury or occupational disease. The daily wage is calculated as gross salary × 12 / 261 working days per year.
From working day 31, ZZZS takes over payment, initially at the same rate as the employer. After 90 calendar days from the start of the sick leave, the rate for illness and injury outside work drops by 10 percentage points (illness 80% → 70%, injury outside work 70% → 60%). For workplace injury and occupational disease, the rate stays at 100% throughout.
The ZZZS benefit has a statutory monthly floor of €889.13 (60% of the minimum wage) and a ceiling of €6,515.23, which the calculator applies as a daily limit to the portion paid by ZZZS.
The input is a single gross salary — the real calculation is based on the previous year's average salary, a simplification noted in the disclaimer.
