This is an indicative calculation. It does not replace a ruling from ZUS or professional payroll advice.

How Polish sick pay is calculated in 2026

The basis is the assessment basis = average salary reduced by 13.71% (a flat-rate offset for the employee contributions that are not deducted from sickness benefits). The daily basis is always calculated as basis / 30, regardless of the actual number of days in the month.

The standard rate is 80% of the daily basis. A 100% rate applies to incapacity during pregnancy, an accident on the way to or from work, and blood or tissue donation — select the 100% rate toggle in those cases.

The first 33 calendar days of incapacity per year (only 14 days for an employee aged 50 or over) are paid by the employer as sick wage. After this period, Poland's ZUS takes over payment as sickness allowance — the rate stays the same, only the payer changes.

The sickness-allowance support period lasts a maximum of 182 days (longer for tuberculosis or incapacity arising during pregnancy).
